Creating Your Voice and Sharing Your Point of View

Empowering Others to Stand Out Without Bragging

Welcome to the Share Your Stories series in support of the entrepreneurial spirit…

We feature stories of ordinary people, just like you and me, who are doing extra ordinary things, connecting with their communities and pursuing their own brand of success.

In our gig economy, we need to encourage business innovation because every new company starts out as an incubator business. Every successful entrepreneur has had a mentor with a support network and each business mogul will remember the days when they started in the trenches with a great idea.

Each person who shares their story has been on a journey that started with a lightbulb moment, taking a leap of faith to start a business and share their great idea…

Alexis Gladstone is the founder of Intelead, a Chicago-based consulting practice dedicated to aligning people strategies and business results. Intelead designs strategies and programs to help clients develop current and next generation leadership, increase the effectiveness of sales teams, and drive organizational change that delivers results.

Alexis has a passion for helping women succeed and is a sought out voice, trainer, and coach on the topics of women and leadership and helping clients attract and  develop female talent. Alexis has worked domestically and internationally across a variety of industries, including financial services, hospital/medical, legal services and manufacturing. With the variety of businesses she has helped, Alexis considers herself “industry agnostic” which means her strategic approach can produce results with a variety of audiences and industries.

One of her clients, “Alexis and I have developed a special relationship that I am beyond grateful for. After reaching out to her through LinkedIn 5 years ago, she has been a significant contributor to my professional success. Through our mentor/mentee relationship, Alexis has not only has shared with me some valuable lessons that she has learned during her professional career, but she has also shared in the excitement of my career development over the years. Alexis has been an exceptional coach by helping me look at my career progression and transition, spending the time to participate in mock interviewing sessions, connecting me with industry professionals in her network, and assisting me with my graduate thesis needs. Alexis has even filled the role of Advisor for a women’s group in the Organizational Effectiveness profession that I’ve started in Chicago. Alexis’ approach to coaching is transparent, trusting, and honest. What I appreciate the most about Alexis is that she will always the make time for me no matter how busy she may be. Her passion for the work that she does is inspiring and her love for spreading her knowledge has been widely appreciated by not only myself, but other Northwestern University Graduate students.”

As an entrepreneur, we most often share both our passion and life experience into our business.

Alexis believes in life-long learning and collaborates with other industry leaders who share her commitment to both empowerment and customer service. In her youth, what began with a interest in the arts, through ballet, provided an outlet not only for her creativity but taught her the value of discipline and results.  In her business, this foundation became the cornerstone for collaborating with other like-minded professionals.

As a business dynamo, Alexis enjoys working with female entrepreneurs who share her passion for life-long learning and self improvement.  Empowering others to find and share their voice is how she became involved as a certified trainer for Walking on the Glass Floor and Selling In A Skirt, as a Ken Blanchard Channel Partner.

As a coach, her workshop on “The Art of Standing Out Without Bragging” is targeted towards female entrepreneurs and enterprise leaders who have an interest in becoming comfortable with their success while sharing their voice. This session will lead you to authentically share your message while raising your hand to receive well earned recognition for your accomplishments and achievements “without bragging.”

As a speaker, Alexis has had the opportunity to share this theory with both  students and entrepreneurs as she includes 20 ways to be noticed and leave an impression that will resonate with others.

We wanted to know what “lights” her up?

In a word: “empowerment”

With an approach to leadership development that aligns both personal and professional goals Alexis takes into consideration all aspects of life in our busy world.  She believes that everyone combines both personal and business strengths on the road to success.  One contribution is Spiritual Wealth. It’s not about religion, but rather how we connect with our network and communities in affecting positive change. When we combine who we are as a person with our skills and expertise in our work you find a win-win combination. Alexis is able to bridge the gap using resources that builds your confidence and trust not only in yourself but with each other.

One thing is for sure, our mindset sets the stage for creating results that will impact and improve performance.  Sometimes we just need to get out of our own way to effect positive change.

Alexis has the ability to connect the dots between strategic planning and executing results that encourages team participation and personal alignment.

Here are a few highlights on Alexis story….

1) Tell us a little something about your business …

I founded Intelead 15 years ago to help current and future leaders grow and develop, and help organizations improve results and effectiveness. The focus has evolved over the years and I now work primarily with clients who want to develop or enhance their culture for retaining women and developing women leaders. I engage with organizations that already understand and embrace the research that shows companies perform better with a diverse leadership team. One day you might find me working with an executive team discussing strategies to move the needle within their company, while the next day, I will be conducting training or providing coaching to women at all levels of leadership as well as the men who champion them.

2)      When was your lightbulb moment?

I fell into creating my business. After my job was eliminated, to stay busy, I started consulting with a friend’s company. I found that I loved it, and more importantly was good at it. I realized that I could have a broader impact than doing the same type of work inside a single organization, and more importantly incorporate my passion for helping women. It’s rewarding to be able to work with individuals and organizations that want to develop and grow, rather than trying to push a corporate program due to a mandate.

3) Three words of advice…Authentic, Mentor, Relationships

Be Authentic…Mentor Others…Build Relationships – As a woman and leader, I believe that our most important job is to support and develop other women leaders, even if they don’t directly work for us or with us. To do this we need to realize that leadership and advancement is not a zero-sum game. There is enough opportunity for everyone.

A sound strategy of empowerment and support for current and emerging leaders no matter what industry and position within the company.  If you are looking to partner with an industry professional that will coach you and your team for results…  Alexis will share the resources to fast track your success.

We thank Alexis for sharing her story and wish her continued success as she continues to support and empower others on their journey.  If your interested in speaking with Alexis?  Visit her website and start a new conversation through her  Contact page.
