Heirloom Family Documentaries was created to solve a heartbreaking problem—too many families lose the voices, values, and life stories of their loved ones because traditional legacy videos are expensive, complicated, and often come too late. We believe everyone deserves a chance to be remembered and celebrated. That’s why we built a simple, remote video storytelling service that captures the wisdom and warmth of older generations in their own words. With professional guidance, a mailed recording kit, and a caring interview process, we make it easy to preserve a legacy that future generations can hold onto forever.
When was your lightbulb moment?
Heirloom Family Documentaries was born from a personal moment that changed everything. After recording a legacy video with my father, I shared it with my brothers. During a ski trip, my older brother Craig watched it alone and came out of his room visibly shaken, with tears in his eyes. At 57 years old, he heard our dad say he was proud of him for the first time. He also discovered that our father credited his financial success to Craig’s help, something he never knew. That was the moment I realized these videos aren’t just for future generations. They have the power to heal old wounds, deepen family bonds, and say the words that often go unspoken. I knew I had to make this available to more families, so I created a way to capture these stories remotely, making the process simple, affordable, and life-changing. Every story we preserve holds the power to transform the people who watch it.
What are your three words of advice?

Because moments slip away faster than we realize. The stories, voices, wisdom, and love that shape our lives can vanish without warning. I’ve seen too many people wait until it’s too late. But when we take the time to capture a parent or grandparent’s story, we don’t just preserve a memory—we create a bridge between generations, heal relationships, and give our families a lasting gift. There is no perfect time. Just the present. That’s why—capture it now.
