I was born in Birmingham England. My parents moved to Brantford, when I just 11. After I divorced my first husband I moved back to the UK. Fast forward 5 years, a new husband a daughter and twin daughters soon to arrive, we moved back to Canada. I started my journey with FAC in 2005. I am Jewellery Stylist/Sales Leader. I train/motivate a team of women to have a successful direct sales business too. I am a member of the Brantford Chamber of Commerce and recently started the Brantford Chapter for Company of Women. a networking group helping women create success on their terms. Tell us a little something about your business...
Coming from a background of sales, it was an easy transition into direct sales. This May I will be celebrating my 15th year with Fifth Avenue Collection Jewellery. Fifth Avenue Collection is stunning high-end fashion jewellery. We use only the best materials, Swarovski Crystals, Natural Gems. Best of all there is no nickel, lead or cadmium in any of our metals. You really need to see the jewellery first hand to appreciate the high quality and attention to detail.
My days are never dull! Each day can be something different; home parties, office shows, events, fundraising, one on one sales, social media and a VIP group on Facebook.
I help people look and feel good about themselves. The possibilities are endless and that is one of the things I love most about my business!
By chance, I stumbled upon Fifth Avenue Collection and my life changed forever! In the beginning, Fifth Avenue was a way for me to stay at home and raise my 3 girls. I just wanted to have a little “Me” money! It didn’t take long for that to change. I was having so much fun and meeting so many wonderful women that I wanted more! In just a few short months, I was booking lot’s of home parties and helping other women join Fifth Avenue Collection family. Finally, I had found something that I loved and felt passionate about!
In my 15 years with FAC, I have received many awards. I have earned the top sales and/or recruiting for a Sales leader in our zone of Ontario and Eastern Canada, I have earned monthly recruiting awards, monthly sales awards, numerous trips and gifts. I am consistently one of the top 10 consultants in the company, world wide.
When was your lightbulb moment?
In 2008 when the recession hit, my husband lost his job. He found it impossible to find another job in the Advertising industry due to his age!
With having lost the main source income for our family, I decided it was time to kick up my little jewellery business and make some serious money. My husband and I switched roles. He became Mr Mom and I worked my business day and night.
I looked at every possible way there was to sell jewellery and did it. It meant spending the first few months on the phone calling anyone and everyone until I had a full calendar. It was at that moment that I realized, my little direct sales business could be so much more than just a fun little hobby! I had the power to take my business to the next level! I could support my family with just my direct sales business.
What are your three words of advice?
Do what you love, be passionate about it and set goals. If you don’t like what you do, you won’t push yourself to do better at it! I love helping people, whether it’s by helping look and feel great by adding some amazing jewellery, Or by helping them realize their own dreams by having their own business. Set goals! Weekly, monthly and yearly. Just a little out of reach so that you can push yourself to grow. When I am training my team I encourage them to set goals too. How will you ever know if you have achieved success if you don’t know what success is? I find that I personally reach new heights in my business when I set concrete goals, just outside of my comfort zone!
Find what makes your heart sing! I never thought selling jewellery would make my heart sing! But it does, and it is so much more than just selling jewellery. I love helping people and offering great customer service. My business has helped me grow personally and professionally. I LOVE that I can choose how I want to work,when I want to work and how much I want to earn. To me, that is priceless!
