Tell us a little something about your business...
I have been a registered nurse since 1988 working in ten different hospitals in the US and Canada in many areas including emergency, intensive care, the delivery room, chemotherapy and hospice. I became disheartened by our society’s reluctance to talk about, plan and prepare for grief and how it causes excessive suffering in life and at the end of life. I suffered too—personally and professionally—not knowing how to do it differently. It seemed that so many of us were pretending we were fine, when we were suffering in silos of silence and isolation. It was time for change.
When was your lightbulb moment?
I remember my light bulb moment well. I had been pacing the floors, anxious, knowing I had to do something different, but what! I was journaling, reading self-help books (The Success Principles by Jack Canfield led the way) and I knew something BIG was coming. And there it was, a pop-up on Facebook, Bestseller Blueprint; how to write a bestselling book by Steve Harrison and Jack Canfield. It felt like it pushed me back in my chair and I yelled to my husband Geordie; “That’s it honey! I’m going to leave my 27 year nursing career and write a book!” I had no idea what I was doing. 18 months later, “Love Your Life to Death” was born and launched. What are your three words of advice?
PASSION: I truly believe there is something inside each and every one of us that wants to be heard. Whether you want to change the world, walk dogs or have the best garden, do something that feeds your soul and your creative entrepreneurial spirit will awaken. INNER COACH: It’s time for change now. We need to be in tune to all the negative talk and no longer be our worst critics. It’s unhealthy and you and for all those surrounding you. The very best version of you is your greatest gift to the world. Become your best coach! PURPOSE: It sounds cliché, but finding your purpose is the key to fulfillment and happiness. We have different purpose as we move through our lives. Whatever it is and even when it changes, surround yourself with champions and cheerleaders who will celebrate as you live your passion and purpose.
