Shift Happens Coaching believes that Every Youth Matters. We offer vulnerable youth access to expert coaches via individual sessions and group workshops. Shift Happens supports our clients to grow as individuals – empowering them to be change champions in their communities by building their self-awareness, resilience, and supporting their mental and social health.
When was your lightbulb moment?
How does a person begin a life altering journey? It is sometimes said it begins with one step? For me however, it started with what was like a slap of a 2’ by 4’ over the head. In 2011 I had just finished my coach training and went to hear the founders of Co-active Training Institute speak. While I am a firm believer in the power of coaching and how it can change your life, I was not prepared to hear about a program that had brought coaching to San Quentin prison. The desire to offer coaching to those in and exiting the prison system, grew within me and focused on an extremely vulnerable section of our society – youth. I am on a quest to help create a world where everyone feels and knows that they have value, that they are worth being seen and heard and that they are not expendable.
What are your three words of advice?
Enroll devil’s advocates, realize you cannot do it all (regardless of what your ego thinks) and focus your energy on the areas of your business where you excel and thrive. Find champions of your organization to fill in the gaps and create a community of likeminded people as dedicated to your organization as you are.
