When was your lightbulb moment?

My decision to become a mediator started many years ago when I saw many people using their life savings or having to sell their homes to pay for their legal fees, then having to wait for years to have their case heard at trial. Only to find out at the end, they had absolutely no say in the outcome and felt they had been betrayed by the legal system.

People were left feeling frustrated and beaten, both emotionally and financially. I knew there was a better way.

There is a better way, and that way is called mediation. I knew I could help families settle their issues outside of court and without having to pay astronomical legal fees. Mediation allows people to decide on the outcome of their issue. I believe they know their family best, not a judge, not a lawyer, and they are the ones who know best how to settle their issues and move forward in a positive direction for their family.

What are your three words of advice?

Empathy: Understand and share in the feelings of others. Perseverance: Although it may be difficult, keep pushing forward. Truth: Be true to yourself and who you are.
