Angelina Carleton
Angelina Carleton was born in San Antonio, Texas. When she was twenty, she traveled across America from Penn State to LA after graduation alone. In LA, she met and was mentored by former banker George Didion in real estate. In 2014, she transitioned to coaching affluent individuals after witnessing what goes right and what goes wrong. Always fascinated by courage, Angelina wrote about these insights in a variety of articles and created a Legacy Series program. Tell us a little something about your business...
Angelina Carleton is the Founder of Design Your Legacy (DesignUrLegacy.com), an online coaching platform that teaches affluent individuals and business professionals everything they need to know to define, develop and execute their personal life legacy and enhance their legacy their personal value on the open market. She is the host of the Design Your Legacy Podcast and is the author of several articles published in Women in Family Business, Thrive, Alliance (philanthropy) including the soon to be published book “Building a Designed Legacy.” She domiciles and works in Beverly Hills, California with her husband Deryl.
When was your lightbulb moment?
After working several years with HNW investors, who owned portfolios of properties, I came to the realization that attorneys write the contract in favor of their clients. Therefore, what if we wrote our own contract that advocated for the best interest of our legacy, compared to accepting the terms and conditions of others? Time to consider what else is important to you and to humanity.
We can either choose stock plans for a house at The Home Depot or we can have custom plans drawn up. Why not plan for a custom legacy designed just for you? Why not build upon your wisdom? Once you are aware, it is hard to settle for less. Now is the opportunity to write your legacy contract with the guidance of a coach.
What are your three words of advice?
Special. Private. Priority.
Know that you are special. Align it in the private. Get it done.
It matters because I have seen what I don’t want for myself and others.
