Tell us a little something about your business...
Niyamaâ„¢ Yoga Wellness is the first line of natural health supplements formulated for yogis.
I created Niyama™ out of a desire to unite my long-time love for yoga with the knowledge and passion gained from my 20 years of professional experience in the Natural Health Products industry in Canada. I truly believe that the right nutritional supplements, combined with a healthy diet, will help yogis get more out of their practice, and help them sustain it as they age. Niyama™’s initial line of 6 launch products are designed to help energize and focus, rehydrate and repair, and protect joints from inflammation. As well, Niyama™ wants to help extend some of the intrinsic benefits of yoga, like better sleep and stress reduction, into the off-mat lives of yogis – because a happier, healthier yogi is always a good thing. All of our products are made in Canada, non-GMO, vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free and contain no artificial colours, flavours, sweeteners or preservatives. Niyama™ supplements have all been approved by Health Canada and carry an NPN#.
When was your lightbulb moment?
My lightbulb moment came in 2017, when I’d returned to a vigorous yoga practice several times a week, and was really feeling it. I was always concocting my own combinations of vitamins, herbals and aminos before and after practice – and it just hit me that what I was doing was really effective, but that it wasn’t really common knowledge. And that I could create something just for yogis, that was perfect for them and made it simple to nourish and sustain their practice at any age.
Surprisingly, there was nothing out there that really spoke to yogis and perfectly met their needs nutritionally. And I knew I could create that. From there, it took about a year to get to a soft launch in December of 2018, so its really early but the momentum is growing and there is nothing I’d rather be working on.
