From Fear to Fearless: How Adventure Fueled My Business and My Mission, Jennie “AdrenaJen” Milton
- Contributed By: Jennie Milton
Tell us a little something about your business...
I’m Jennie Milton—known by many as AdrenaJen—a world champion in kitesurfing and snowkiting, a keynote speaker, author, and entrepreneur. But before I became a professional in extreme sports and a coach helping others face their fears, I was a girl growing up in Australia who was terrified of just about everything.
For the first thirty years of my life, fear held me hostage. I was consumed by the belief that I wasn’t enough—not brave enough, not lovable enough, not worthy of success. My turning point didn’t come from a business book or a traditional mentor in a suit and tie. It came on a mountain in Alaska, clipped into skis, with a kite above my head and adrenaline in my veins.
That’s when I realized: courage isn’t the absence of fear—it’s the decision to move forward anyway.
Over the years, I turned that decision into a method—a Fear Formula—that I now teach to women around the world. My business has grown into more than coaching and speaking; it’s a mission. I help women, especially those over 40, pivot their passions, rewrite their stories, and step into bold confidence.
I believe in mentorship—not as a hierarchy, but as a circle. We pass the torch, we share our knowledge, and we light the path for those behind us.
Starting my business wasn’t about creating a product. It was about creating a ripple effect. Every time a woman tells me she felt seen, brave, or inspired after one of my talks, I know I’m doing what I was meant to do.
There’s power in our stories. We remember the trenches. We remember the lightbulb moment. And we remember who gave us the courage to try.
Ready. Mindset. Go.
When was your lightbulb moment?
My Lightbulb Moment:
The moment I first flew a kite on snow, everything changed.
I was already a skier. I loved the mountains. And I’d fallen in love with the wind through sailing. But when I clipped into my skis, pulled the kite into the air, and felt the wind lift me off the snow for the first time—I knew. This was what I was meant to do.
It was the moment I realized I could create a life of adventure on my own terms. That adrenaline wasn’t something to avoid—it was something I could harness. That fear wasn’t my enemy—it was my compass.
That lightbulb moment didn’t just lead to a new sport. It sparked my mission: to help others find their version of that moment—the one where everything suddenly makes sense and fear turns into fuel.
What are your three words of advice?
Three Words of Advice:
Feel the Fear
Why they matter:
Because fear isn’t the enemy—avoidance is.
For the first part of my life, I ran from fear. I thought it meant I was weak. But when I started skiing big mountains and flying kites in high winds, I realized something powerful: fear is information. It shows up when we’re on the edge of growth.
I’ve now built a life and business around helping others “feel the fear”—not to freeze or flee—but to move through it with courage. When you feel it, acknowledge it, and act anyway, that’s where confidence is built and dreams come alive.
Three words of advice...
Feel. Face. Fly.
