From Harpist to Life Coach: Embracing the Whole Self with Katrine Horn

Tell us a little something about your business...
I help ambitious women, especially leaders and entrepreneurs, step out of autopilot, stop over-relying on willpower, and make decisions that align with the life and leadership they truly want. My coaching focuses on uncovering the beliefs, habits, and identities that hold people back, then guiding them to live from a future-self perspective rather than past patterns. My clients move from stress, self-doubt, and “not enough” thinking into clarity, confidence, and a leadership presence that feels authentic and expansive.
When was your lightbulb moment?
But it wasn’t always this way. I started as a classical harpist, completely captivated by music. I left Denmark for London, won a scholarship, and immersed myself in the pursuit of perfection. The harp taught me discipline, subtlety, and creativity, but it also taught me loneliness. No matter how much I practised, no one was really watching. The applause felt distant, and I began to question my own worth.
I turned to teaching, thinking I could channel my skills into helping others. But when I was assigned to a classroom of thirteen-year-olds, everything I believed about myself was challenged. The labels I had leaned on—polished, poised, perfect—meant nothing in that room. Students didn’t see the classical musician; they saw me, flawed and human. And for the first time, I was terrified of being rejected—not for who I was on paper, but for who I truly was.
That fear became a breakthrough. I realised that the only way to connect, lead, and influence others was to drop the labels and allow my authentic self to show up. I learned that leadership and life aren’t about perfection. Tthey’re about presence, courage, and embracing the full spectrum of who you are.
This revelation eventually led me to life coaching. I now help my clients discover themselves beyond titles, roles, and “shoulds.” I guide them to explore who they are when they allow themselves to be both disciplined and playful, ambitious and restful, focused and expansive. Like the harp, life isn’t meant to play one note; it’s about expressing the full richness of your personality.
What are your three words of advice?
Three words guide my work and my life: Be. Allow. Expand. Be fully yourself. Allow yourself to experience your full range without judgment. Expand into the opportunities, relationships, and leadership that align with your authentic self.
When my clients realise this, they step into decisions, leadership, and lives that feel effortless, aligned, and powerful. And that’s the kind of transformation that keeps me passionate about what I do.
