Tell us a little something about your business...
The words, “Don’t tell anyone” silenced me at the age of 8. Fifteen years later I saved another child from abuse by speaking up. Today I inspire clients to break their silence and become victorious over trauma. I am the founder and executive director of The Speak Feed Lead Project which has empowered hundreds of children, teens, and adults with confident, courageous voices shared on global stages, competitions, podcasts, and books.
I am a 2015 semi-finalist in The World Championship of Public Speaking, a TEDx speaker, a best-selling author of six books on topics ranging from leadership, healing, communication, and parenting; and the co-host of Life Mastery Radio with Todd & Jackie.
My books are:
SELF-Centered Leadership | Becoming Influential, Intentional, and Exceptional
Heart Notes | An Anthology of Inspiring Letter to Matters of the Heart Volume 1
No Problem Parenting | Raising your Kiddos with More Confidence and Less Fear
Developed Thru Darkness | The Difference Between Being Planted and Being Buried
The Parenting Owner’s Manual | The A to Z’s of Raising A Happy, Healthy Family from 34 Experts Around the World
The Cinderella Monologues 2nd Edition | Inspiring Stories of Women Finding Courage & Success
When was your lightbulb moment?
When I was compelled to break my silence of abuse, I had much to lose. A husband, two kids, a seemingly happy life (it was merely managed), could all be lost if I wasn’t believed or thought of as crazy. Suicide was considered, until I realized I needed to tell about the abuse so that my own children would be safe.
It was upon using my voice for the first time to speak out, and take a risk, I realized I had something important and valuable to say. My words were worth hearing. Speaking out started me on a journey of continuing to speak, and now helping others to speak as well.
What are your three words of advice?
My story is based on three little words at various times throughout my healing journey. I will use those words as advice:
“I’ve a secret”: It’s okay to keep parts of yourself protected, yet there are also times when being vulnerable will change the course of your life
“I forgive you”: Forgiving is healing. Letting go of feelings that no longer serve you and verbally saying them, will empower you beyond what you can imagine
“Speak, feed, and lead”: These words are my mission and a call to action. Speak your message, feed the soul of others through uplifting words, and lead with positive influence.
