Tell us a little something about your business...
I founded Intelead 15 years ago to help current and future leaders grow and develop, and help organizations improve results and effectiveness. The focus has evolved over the years and I now work primarily with clients who want to develop or enhance their culture for retaining women and developing women leaders. I engage with organizations that already understand and embrace the research that shows companies perform better with a diverse leadership team. One day you might find me working with an executive team discussing strategies to move the needle within their company, while the next day I will be conducting training or providing coaching to women at all levels of leadership as well as the men who champion them.
When was your lightbulb moment?
I fell into creating my business. After my job was eliminated, to stay busy, I started consulting with a friend’s company. I found that I loved it, and more importantly was good at it. I realized that I could have a broader impact than doing the same type of work inside a single organization, and more importantly incorporate my passion for helping women. It’s rewarding to be able to work with individuals and organizations that want to develop and grow, rather than trying to push a corporate program due to a mandate.
What are your three words of advice?
Be Authentic…Mentor Others…Build Relationships – As a woman and leader, I believe that our most important job is to support and develop other women leaders, even if they don’t directly work for us or with us. To do this we need to realize that leadership and advancement is not a zero-sum game. There is enough opportunity for everyone.
