Tell us a little something about your business...
My business exists for one reason: to help leaders stop drifting and start leading with intention. After 21 years as a Navy Chief, I created Genuines Coaching & Consulting and developed the IMPACT Brief™, a simple clarity tool that gives people the mission, structure, and focus they wish they had after the uniform. My upcoming book, Intentional Impact, is a blueprint for leaders who want to rise above burnout, overwhelm, and distraction and step into purpose-driven action. It’s leadership without the fluff, clarity without confusion.
When was your lightbulb moment?
My lightbulb moment came during a deployment when our crew was locked down due to COVID restrictions. I trusted my Leading Petty Officer to handle things, but sailors started quietly sharing concerns that something wasn’t right. I brushed it off at first… because I trusted my system more than I trusted my people.
But one day, a young sailor came to me and said,
“Chief, you always tell us to speak up. So here I am. Something’s off.”
That moment humbled me. I realized leadership isn’t about assuming, it’s about aligning. Not checking the box, but checking in. Not managing actions, but listening to people.
It changed how I lead forever.
It’s the foundation of everything I teach today: real leadership begins when you choose intentional alignment over autopilot authority.
