Tell us a little something about your business...
Model Masterclass is an online program designed to educate and prepare potential models of all ages and backgrounds for the busy and demanding world of modelling. As a model and former agent I am often asked how to break into the competitive world of fashion. There are many myths and misconceptions surrounding the industry and my goal is to educate up and coming talent, help them find a clear path, and succeed in the industry through solid education. My daughter Maddie, also a model in Toronto, is often approached with the same questions. Together we decided to create a safe and professional environment for people to learn more about the business of modelling.
When was your lightbulb moment?
Our lightbulb moment came this spring while discussing the industry and the lack of information that exists for talent of all ages. The business of modelling is so much more inclusive now and is embracing more diversity in all areas including age ranges, cultural backgrounds, realistic body proportion and social influencers. Many are entering the industry without agents or training and have no idea how to manage their work day in a professional way. We saw this as an incredible opportunity to help people learn this craft in an online, interactive format. We promptly sat down together and created a program including all of our back stage tricks, healthy lifestyle habits and confidence building tips! We present this in an honest, realistic way that empowers people to own the process and create momentum. Learning to find good agents, photographers and having an amazing support team around you is also key to success.
What are your three words of advice?
You will need clear Vision to set a path for success.
You will need to be Consistent in your pursuit of the Vision.
You will need Patience to see the process through.
