Tell us a little something about your business...
We are a furnace and air duct cleaning company that has been family owned and operated for over 40 years. Adam Oldfield grew up in the business and started along with his father at the age of 12. In 2018, Adam’s stepmother (managed the office operations) passed away and Steve was ready to retire. Adam and his wife Michelle Oldfield took over the business in 2019. The business has grown to 4 vehicles employs over 10 people and is for the future is looking to franchise and build out across Ontario.
When was your lightbulb moment?
Taking over the business was a necessity but by doing so a lot of things had to be upgraded. The opportunity to take a company that has been 40 years in the making and updating it to be technologically advanced. The trades industry hasn’t necessarily adapted to today’s technology and this was a chance to do so. Even the HVAC market can involve technology that assists with checking air quality and operating the business in a more efficient manner.
What are your three words of advice?
Efficiency. It’s how I’ve made money.
Success. It’s yet to be achieved and nobody has ever done it as we all continue to strive for it.
Profit. Without it, I would not be in business
