Founder of Pivot & Pilot Creative, A branding and design agency – Rebecca Rochon

Tell us a little something about your business...

I built my business with my talented co-founder, Alejandro Quinteros, 5 years ago. He was working at a design agency and I was working as a storyboard artist at an animation studio when we ended up working on a project together. After we finished that project I felt like we had a perfect working balance between Alejandro’s attention to detail and my storytelling ability.

We then created a business in my apartment and quickly grew to a team of 6. Clients come to us when they are looking to better communicate who they are, who they are for, and why they are different to their demographic. We help our clients stand out and capitalize on their first impression through branding, packaging, websites and ad campaigns.

When was your lightbulb moment?

A big lightbulb moment for me in my business was when I realized we grew to a point where I needed to stop working IN the business and begin to work ON the business. I then joined an awesome program called EOA (Entrepreneur’s Organization Accelerator) and have made massive strides by working on the culture, systems and processes within my business.

What are your three words of advice?

Laugh: I think maintaining a sense of humour is the most important way to keep yourself and everyone around you grounded. It’s important not to take life too seriously and have fun. Adapt. and do it quick! My strategy is fast trial and error. Don’t overthink and try things out, learn from failures and adapt – it’s way better than staying still.  Grow: Keep learning and stay self-aware. Understand your impact on people and your reaction to situations and grow. View yourself as a work in progress always. Remember that whenever you leave behind failure, it means you’re doing better. If you think everything you’ve done is great, you’re probably dumb.
