Tell us a little something about your business...

A serial entrepreneur Hilda and her husband built a national engineering firm recognized as Best Workplaces in Canada®, top 10, twice and Canada’s Best Managed Companies finalist. The success of that people-centric organization resulted in the creation of REVUP Your Potential™, an articulation of that roadmap for success.
Today, Hilda is the Founder and Chief People Officer of People Bright Consulting, an HR Consulting and Leadership and Team Training firm helping build healthy people-centric work cultures. What sets People Bright apart is its business-minded approach to fostering healthy work cultures – balancing the risks and rewards of profit and people. The Leadership and team training programs incorporate the REVUP Your Potential principles to transform entrepreneurs’ and leaders’ skills to motivate and inspire their teams.
In 2022, she became an international best-selling author, where she talks about REVUP and “Helping to Build Confidence in Future Leaders” in the highly successful Women Who Boss Up series. When was your lightbulb moment?

When I reflected back on the 17 years I spent with the company my husband owned, I realized we had built something special, something unique but not impossible for others to create. Thinking about what to do after we sold the business, I realized I wanted to spread the word and help others to create healthy work cultures. But how to articulate it succinctly. We did treat staff with Respect, look at them as Equals and Valued who they were. I was driving and thinking about what made it special and then it hit me REVUP (Uniqueness and Potential) just came at the same time as the word REVUP.

What are your three words of advice?

REVUP Your Potential. (Respect, Equality, Valued, Uniqueness and Potential) I am on a mission to make life better for others, and I believe leaders can make that happen. They have the ability to make a difference in the lives of their staff and to be better leaders. I believe that embracing the REVUP principles can help leaders to inspire, motivate and uplift their staff. The end result is more enjoyment and fulfillment at work and for the company, more productivity, better performance and more profit.
