We share entrepreneurial stories to inspire great ideas...

The Artist Behind the Cover

Celebrating 10 Years As Editor-In-Chief

Welcome to the Share Your Stories series in support of the entrepreneurial spirit.

We feature ordinary people, just like you and me, who are doing extra
ordinary things, connecting with their communities and pursuing their own brand of success.

In our gig economy, we need to encourage business innovation because every new company starts out as an incubator business. Every successful entrepreneur has had a mentor with a support network and each business mogul will remember the days when they started in the trenches with a great idea.

Each person who shares their story has been on a journey that started with a lightbulb moment, taking a leap of faith to move outside their comfort zone and start their own business…

Do you believe that for every negative action we experience in life their is another positive opportunity that will exceed our wildest dreams?

Viviana Puello is currently the Editor-In-Chief for one of the most successful international art magazines with global distribution that includes 205 countries and exceeds 10M viewers. Viviana has been featured as one of the Top 10 Female Entrepreneurs of 2020 by New York Weekly and has
received numerous awards for her work as an artist, writer, filmmaker and philanthropist. She has been featured in CBS News, Medium, ABC, Fox, The NY Weekly, Washington Post, LA Wire, NY Wire, The American
Reporter, Venezuela TV, Brazil TV, Toscana Cultura, and Incontri con L’Arteis to name a few. She is a women who is currently celebrating her 10th anniversary as founder and Editor-In-Chief of ARTtour International magazine.

Viviana is also a role model, mentor, entrepreneur and by anyone’s standards exemplifies a true success story. Someone who supports the
empowerment of others, helping artists transition from their 9 – 5 jobs into successful artists and entrepreneurs.

A true visionary who believes in the power of all things positive.

But, this is not another story about an overnight success…

When you meet Viviana she openly admits that her life started with many challenges. After being abandoned by her parents, she developed a belief system that discouraged her from moving outside her comfort zone and pursuing her dreams.

At the age of 12, she found herself in a large convention centre in her home town of Colombia seeing for the first time the work of Alejandro Obrego, a Colombian painter, muralist, sculpture. His work was so powerful she knew something in the arts would be in her future.

This connection started her on a healing path that included creativity as a source of personal empowerment and peace. A journey that would find her eventually immigrating to the United States as a young artist building
connections within her community as a full-time painter, curator, writer and jewellery designer.

“I love sharing art because for me to share art is to share joy.”

As a painter, Viviana creates multi-media abstract work that is often
inspired by the Angel Ariel. A guardian to those who believe in the power of spirit. A literal translation is the “lion of God.” Ariel is also considered a liaison between the Earth and spirits or fairies. She is the patron saint of new beginnings, sharing her ability to assist with reaching our goals.
It is no wonder that Viviana is creatively connected to this figure.

As an artist, another creative outlet is jewellery design. Working with semi-precious stones, Viviana not only creates wearable art, but at times you will find her crushing the stones and mixing the dust with paint as part of the multi-media approach to her work.

Jewellery, adds a personal touch that is both figurative and literal for this artist with a selection of bracelets, rings, and necklaces that include stones with healing properties and empowering qualities.

Green agate and turquoise, as an
example increase emotional flexibility
and improve decision making.
Encouraging these traits when you wear the stones creates an organic connection between nature and nurture while
celebrating the environment.

As an artist, you will find Viviana is grateful for the opportunity to share her creativity with so many individuals who appreciate the visual arts. Part of her appeal is a humble connection to her work, fellow artists and the community.

When speaking with Viviana about the anniversary edition, she smiles as she shares the story of how she started the magazine.

The year was 2011, and what seemed like a crazy idea became the first issue of ARTtour International with Viviana as Editor-In-Chief.

She was returning from a trip to Italy with her partner and husband Alan Grimandi. As she flipped through the pages of a magazine she realized what was missing was actually the inspiration for something new and innovative. A unique way of featuring the work of her friends and colleagues that would introduce them to a global audience. She asked Alan if he thought they would be able to gain the support of the artists in their network? Would they be interested in participating in a magazine that would share and feature their work? A few months later, she had her
answer and published the first edition of the magazine.

Now, ARTtour International has become a marketing force within the global market. This year, Viviana and her team are not only celebrating 10 years and over 50 issues but still introducing innovative ideas. QR codes that feature live interviews, music and features on painters, sculptures, writers, musicians and performance artists. A magazine that is available digitally and in print growing in popularity with podcasts, documentaries and personal interviews.

A project with the same vision and mission as the day she returned from Italy with another great idea.

The front cover for this anniversary issue is an art installation created by the Editor-In-Chief. It is a celebration of not only her artistic talent but one that connects the elements of nature with the earth. A green issue.

The installation was built in her studio and includes wood, grasses, and plants. All of the elements that celebrate mother earth and the organic way each artist featured in the issue celebrates their work.

It is the launch of a new era for the magazine and I suspect Viviana will
continue to explore every opportunity to support her family network with the platform that will allow us to exceed our wildest dreams.

“I believe in art is a catalyst for personal transformation. And I believe in inspiration as a healing force that helps elevate global consciousness.”
Viviana Puello, Editor-in-Chief, ARTtour Magazine

2) When was your lightbulb moment?
After two decades of working as an independent artist and curator and seeing the struggles and hardships that many artists face within the art industry, I decided to create my own platform dedicated to helping other artists with exposure and marketing.

3) Three words of advice…  Create… Succeed … Stay Inspired
Growing your business is also a spiritual discovery. It is important to remember because in my journey I was able to experience success until I had shift of mindset. I believe if we don’t have the right mindset, everything becomes more difficult. Neglecting this can costs us time, money, and energy.

Base your products to serve your clients. Listening to our clients and what they truly need is very important. Pushing products just because we think they will make us more money can backfire. Abundance flows when we genuinely care about meeting the needs of those we serve.
Start your journey now, as you are. Waiting to be ready only leads to procrastination. Start your journey, commit to it and the educate yourself during the process.
