Beyond Words Productions is a storytelling-driven video production company specializing in heartfelt, emotive content for businesses, nonprofits, and organizations. Founded by former TV news reporter Jamie Perez, the company combines journalistic interviewing, creative filmmaking, and emotional intelligence to create videos that build empathy, drive fundraising, increase visibility, and inspire action. Jamie’s passion for this work is rooted in her own lived experiences. Growing up around cycles of abuse and navigating difficult transitions taught her early on how deeply stories can affect the way we see ourselves and others. Those challenges cultivated a rare sensitivity, an ability to listen beneath the surface, hold space for vulnerable moments, and guide people to express their truth with confidence and dignity. After years of reporting on human triumph, tragedy, and community impact as a reporter, Jamie realized that powerful storytelling isn’t just about what’s captured on camera, it’s about the courage it takes to share who we are. Through Beyond Words Productions, she channels her personal journey into purposeful work, helping others tell their stories in a way that resonates and connects. When was your lightbulb moment?

My lightbulb moment came after leaving the news industry and realizing that the stories that moved me most weren’t the breaking headlines, they were the quiet, human ones that often went unheard. Growing up around cycles of abuse and navigating major life transitions, I learned firsthand how isolating it can feel when your story isn’t seen, and how healing it can be when it is. That personal experience shaped my understanding that storytelling isn’t just creative work, it’s emotional work. While filming a fundraising project early in my business, I watched a single story touch hearts and inspire thousands of dollars in donations, not because of strategy, but because people genuinely felt something. In that moment, everything clicked: when we create space for vulnerability, witness people fully, and share stories with intention, that’s where the transformation happens. That realization became the foundation for Beyond Words Productions and the work I’m committed to today.

What are your three words of advice?

Listen — truly hear the stories and experiences of others. Lending the room to listen, rather than speak, helps us learn, connect, feel and become better human beings. It calms our minds, reduces stress, and makes us more compassionate.

Empower — help people find their voice and confidence to share their truth. When you can speak in your truth and share your story, you can inspire a world that needs it.

Create — transform those stories into something that inspires, connects, and drives action. Whatever that creation is for you. Do something you are passionate about and the vision will pull you to a fulfilling, successful life.
