Tip Top K9 began with a mission to improve the lives of both dogs and their owners. It all started with Curley, a Schnauzer-Terrier mix with numerous behavioral challenges. Determined to find a solution, the Tip Top Method was born—an innovative approach based on classical conditioning, which has since become the cornerstone of our training success.
Since then, Tip Top K9 has grown into a thriving franchise with 19 locations across 11 states, helping thousands of dogs and their owners overcome behavioral issues. What sets us apart is our commitment to comprehensive training programs that ensure consistent, lasting results. Our systematic, repeatable approach empowers dogs to learn effectively while giving owners the tools they need to maintain that training at home.

When was your lightbulb moment?
For me, the path to dog training wasn’t straightforward. Stuck in a cubicle, hating my daily grind, I constantly longed for more meaningful work. My true lightbulb moment came when I adopted Curley, a Schnauzer-Terrier mix with more behavioral issues than I expected.
I tried every training technique I could find—watching hours of the Dog Whisperer and attending countless training sessions. But nothing seemed to completely solve Curley’s problems, and that’s when it hit me. I realized that traditional methods weren’t enough. That spark of realization led me to develop the Tip Top Method—a system based on classical conditioning that transformed Curley’s behavior and became the foundation of my future business.
That lightbulb moment became the driving force behind Tip Top K9, now a successful dog training franchise with 19 locations across 11 states. My discovery didn’t just change my life—it created a system that helps dogs and their owners everywhere live better, more fulfilling lives.
What are your three words of advice?
These three words – Consistency, Patience, and Passion – matter to me because they reflect the core principles that guided my journey from frustration to fulfillment.
Consistency has been crucial to my success in both dog training and with Tip Top K9. I’ve learned that training a dog requires steady, consistent effort to achieve lasting results. This same principle applies to building a business – showing up and putting in the work every day is essential.
Patience became a key lesson for me through my experience with Curley, who had persistent behavioral issues. I realized that progress takes time and patience is necessary to overcome setbacks. This also applied when growing Tip Top K9, where success didn’t happen overnight but through years of trial and error.
Passion is the driving force behind everything I do. From training dogs to helping others build successful businesses, my passion has kept me going, even in tough times. It’s the foundation of Tip Top K9 and the reason why our business has thrived. Without passion, I don’t believe I would’ve had the resilience to overcome the challenges along the way.
These values shape my approach to both dog training and entrepreneurship, making them central to my success and the growth of Tip Top K9.
