Tell us a little something about your business...
I have always loved to create and to write, but growing up in a cult I was not allowed to pursue anything creative. I shelved my passion after escaping the cult and had a career in the accounting field, as well as starting several small businesses. I began writing for children in my mid-forties and the bug hit hard. I wanted to write full time. After my second marriage failed, and Covid hit, I moved across the country and had a series of terrible jobs. That’s when I decided to start my own business again – this time centered around the thing that brings me the most joy, writing.
Using my knowledge and passion to write, I help non-writers (and some writers) to tell their story, whether it’s a pivot they made, and AHA moment or how they struggled and came out of a dark period in their life. The best part is, we get the book done in thirty days. My goal is to empower non-writers to share the stories they have been holding in, so they can have an impact on others.
When was your lightbulb moment?
When I was working as an accountant, I was asked by a co-worker (who was a writer) why I wasn’t writing. She told me I had a marvelous perspective and I was creative. I’d forgotten, how much I’d loved to write as a kid and being asked this question brought it all back to me. I went to work right away learning the craft, going to conferences and reading books. I had three picture books published and was getting ready to have my forth, a novel published, and then Covid hit and changed everything. That’s when I moved back to Florida with the intent of being a full time writer, but it wasn’t until 2022, while staring a literal brick wall at my 8-5 job, that I decided to pursue my passion to write full time and to coach others to get their books written.
What are your three words of advice?
Gratitude – because being thankful, for even the hard times, will make you a stronger. It will attract to you positive things, and growth spiritually, mentally and emotionally.
Forgiveness – because harboring hatred and bitterness will kill off little pieces of yourself.
Patience – because waiting for what you want makes so much better when you finally get it.
