After being in 20 plus years in the Accounting and Finance Industry, she’s making a significant transition and stepping into herself as the performer she truly is. Renee has performed at weddings, online and in dramas at times for audiences up to 4,500 people. Acting, singing – either solo or with a band, and even working behind the scenes as make-up and wardrobe coordinator. While this venture is new, the act of performing is not. Tell us a little something about your business...
After several years behind a desk, I’ve now decided to get behind a mic.
I’ve run a successful accounting and bookkeeping practice for more than 10 years now. I’m grateful for having had the opportunity. I’m grateful for the things I’ve learned and the people I’ve met. But at this stage in my life, I’m feeling it’s now time to do something that is more in line with who I truly am.
I’m no stranger to hard work and hustle. Anyone who’s ever started their own business knows what that’s all about. So now I’m enjoying the journey as I make this transition.
The past couple of decades have changed things tremendously in the world of voice over. The amount of digital content has given rise to so many new opportunities and ways to market that just weren’t there before – truly exciting times!
As a voice over talent, I’m very versatile. I can do accents, sing jingles, and perform anything from serious and stoic to goofy and comical. My corporate experience makes me a perfect choice for corporate narration or explainer videos. My fun personality makes me easy to work with. When was your lightbulb moment?
January of this year. I ran into a family friend and her colleague at a meeting, both voice over artists. When they heard me give a comment. Once said to the other jokingly, “She’s hired!” Long story short, I told them I wanted to try and they were both willing to be of support. This meant the world to me. With two professionals willing to support me, how could I not try?

What are your three words of advice?
Align Your Strengths
This is so important because our careers take a lot of our time. Do something you enjoy but also what’s practical and will enable you to support yourself. Things are constantly changing so be aware of opportunities now here that may not have been available before. Don’t be afraid to take risks. This is also true in relationships. We get to choose our friends, so choose those who support you and bring out the very best in you.
