Anne Celestin
I have been a Registered Nurse since 2010, and in 2024, I finally made the leap to start my own holistic practice in Functional Medicine. I am an entrepreneur at heart, having started my first business at 13, selling sandwiches at my high school (undercover) and delivering pizza in my neighbourhood (with my brother as my driver). I am a passionate person by nature and enjoy laughing, dancing, cooking, traveling, and connecting with people.

Tell us a little something about your business...
I run a Functional Medicine Practice where I help women with hormonal imbalances and gut issues restore their vitality through natural and lifestyle medicine practices. These women often wake up feeling tired, carry extra weight, experience thinning hair, and suffer from constipation or bloating. These issues impact their mood, relationships, and overall well-being. Many have visited their doctors and been told their bloodwork is normal or that their symptoms are simply due to anxiety or ADHD, or that it’s all in their head because the labs didn’t reveal anything abnormal.
In Functional Medicine, we understand that each individual is unique and their experience is real. We recognize that the conventional medical system is designed to flag those who meet specific criteria for sickness based on the general population, which may not apply to the patient in front of us. In my practice, I listen to my patients, dig deep, and conduct extensive testing that most doctors don’t order. I also re-evaluate the same bloodwork their doctor deemed normal through a functional medicine lens to help restore balance and improve their physical and mental well-being.
I support my patients’ journey to optimal health using fundamental pillars of nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress management to ensure lasting success.
When was your lightbulb moment?
I was lounging on my studio balcony in Hawaii, soaking in the ocean view, when it hit me. It was my day off, but not just any day off. After nearly a year as a travel nurse, my contract had ended, and finding a new one was tougher than expected. That’s when I decided to dive into coaching. I had just gotten certified in transformative nurse coaching, but starting out was a challenge.
I threw myself into a community volunteer project, dedicating three days a week to giving back. The rest of the time, I was either hustling to get my coaching practice off the ground or enjoying the beautiful island with visiting friends and family. I also organized an emotional wellness workshops for women, even though I hadn’t landed paying clients yet.
Then, something clicked when I started coaching a woman who came to my workshop, for free. The satisfaction I got from helping her find her path was incredible. It reminded me why I chose this path—to truly connect and make a difference in people’s lives, especially in their health journey.
It also reminded me of my desire for more time and flexibility to volunteer and help people in a deeper, more meaningful way. Moments like these, sitting on a balcony overlooking the ocean, feeling deep peace and satisfaction, became even more precious.
That’s when I stumbled upon Functional Medicine. It felt like everything fell into place, perfectly complementing my coaching approach. Functional Medicine gave me the tools to support people disappointed by conventional medicine, offering them renewed hope.
That moment on my balcony was a turning point. It solidified my belief that I was meant to do more than traditional nursing—I was meant to guide people toward better health and wellness through coaching and Functional Medicine.
What are your three words of advice?
You’ve got this! Because the most persistent voice in my head is my own. Try as I may, there is always a time I will feel discouraged, or question: Am I doing the right thing? Can I really succeed in this business? Should I just go back to working in a hospital? What was I thinking?
Business is a thrilling ride with challenging uphill climbs especially the initial one.
So, on the day that I’m not quite sure I’m doing it right, I count my wins and remind myself that I’ve got this!
